You may be frustrated, like I once was, because certain people around you always seem to be hearing from God and you don't. You might feel, like I once did, like the red-headed step-child in the family of God. It may seem like you are on the outside looking in. Let me stop you cold: THAT is a perception, not a reality.
Kind of like the lie some of our kids are believing.
When I first had glimmers of hearing God in my spirit, I realized He had been speaking the whole time, but I had not recognized Him.
My debut into hearing God more clearly started with ASKING. I simply asked Him to help me know His voice. Pretty much I shared with Him my first paragraph and told Him I wanted to learn.
And then it happened. But His voice sounded like my voice in my own head, so I had been missing it.
Be encouraged today. God IS speaking to you and He wants you to hear Him. If you struggle with this, ASK for Him to show you, to teach you. And if you've asked before, ask again. Persist, just like you do in so many other areas of life.
