Everyone has an opinion, and I do too. The lack of consensus among professionals and organizations considered "experts" is a total red flag to me. Seriously. When you look at photos and film of people in let's say the 60s and compare them with now, there's a HUMONGOUS difference! Obesity has always existed, but not to the extent it does today. What's different in culture and lifestyle? Some differences include the proliferation of highly processed and fake foods, artificial sweeteners, larger portions and super-sizing, snacking, 24/7 accessibility of food, society is "awake" around the clock with crazy work schedules, sleep deficiencies, proliferation of health problems and medications, sedentary lifestyles, and I could go on and on. I had an eating disorder as a young person and have studied health and nutrition 40 years. Today I am a licensed counselor and life coach, and one of my specialties is food abuse. If people would address the issues I just named, many people would lose weight and be much healthier. The experts who write books and are on the internet are trying to earn a living like anyone else, so they try to find an angle or something new that will sell. Food industry wants to sell its products. What I got out of a portion of a Dr. Gundry video I watched this morning is the same thing I became convinced of 40 years ago...we're being manipulated constantly by those who stand to profit (professionals, organizations, food industry, medical community, etc). Eating breakfast and consuming refined cereals and drinking juice are just a few ideas that have been sold to us for profit. Doctors, dieticians, therapists, coaches, authors, filmmakers, etc. are manipulated and in turn manipulate. It's just the way it is. Dr. Gundry points out some truths, but he is likely not correct about everything he believes or promotes. When I turned to my Creator, I started to understand His design. It's not complicated, like some try to make it. Unless you've behaved your way into a health crisis, you don't need a "diet." Eat real whole foods often, cook from scratch, watch portions, stay fit, get out in nature, have healthy relationships, get plenty of sleep, and walk with God and you will probably become height-weight proportionate and generally healthy. There are always exceptions.
